We have a few databases that have data from European companies. For the most comprehensive coverage, of both public and private companies, try Amadeus. This database includes data on the top 250,000 companies from 34 European countries. It allows for multiple searching criteria and offers many reporting functions, including downloading financial data into spreadsheet format. (Click on “Support” in the upper right for a nice users guide).
For large, public, European firms, financial data can also be found in either Mergent Online or Thomson Research (click on “Worldscope” to access international company data). Mergent contains data on 20,000 non-U.S. companies; Thomson covers more than 50,000 companies incorporated in over 70 countries, including some private companies.
