Finding U.S. Trade Data

To find annual U.S. trade balances since 1960, and annual/monthly oil import balances beginning in 1973, go to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Historical Series site for Foreign Trade Statistics and click on the annual totals here:

Innovative SPEA class practices what it teaches: reducing the carbon footprint

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University students and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service professionals are learning together this semester in an IU course on conservation and global climate change. And, through the use of innovative technology, they are doing so in a way that doesn’t produce greenhouse gases and contribute to further climate change.

The IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs course meets on the IU campus in Bloomington. Dozens of Fish and Wildlife Service personnel from eight states participate from their homes or offices, linked to the classroom by a high-quality telephone connection and desktop sharing computer software.

Kelley School MBA program moves three positions in Business Week rankings to 15th

Program ranked fourth among publics

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business has moved up again in another measure of quality, this time in Business Week’s 2008 list of best business schools. Based on surveys of graduating students and corporate recruiters, the magazine ranked the school 15th overall, up from 18th two years ago. On that list, Kelley stands fourth among public institutions.

Already this year, the Kelley School’s graduate program and its faculty have received considerable national attention. Recognition has included a top 20 ranking by U.S. News and World Report magazineand a Princeton Review survey giving top marks for Kelley faculty, facilities and overall classroom experience. The Financial Times ranked Kelley’s marketing program No. 2 and its statistics program No. 7, both worldwide. …
